The Sault Ste. Marie Golf Club is providing young golfers the opportunity to compete against other young boys and girls from across the City in two unique golf events, The CN Future Links Skills Challenge and The City Junior Championship.
The CN Future Links Challenge is open to all junior aged players and is designed in conjunction to Golf Canada’s Long-term Player Development principles that focuses on developing the key golf skills of putting, chipping, driving and iron play. The event will be held Thursday, August 14th between 10am and 1pm.
An exciting new online leaderboard will allow participants to track their skills improvement and they will be ranked nationally by age group, and by skills scores on the National Leaderboard. The top scoring individuals will be eligible to compete in the National Junior Skills Event to be held in conjunction with the World Junior Girls Championship on September 27th at the Angus Glen Golf Club. Entry is free for Sault Ste. Marie Golf Club Members and only $5.00 for non-members. Details for each of the four skills challenges can be found at www.cnfuturelinks.com.
This is an ideal event for Juniors of all ages and abilities as the challenges are skill based and age appropriate. If your child can hit the four shots required (driving, iron play, chipping and putting) with some consistency then this is a great event for them.
The City Junior Championship will be held on Monday, August 18th. This 18 hole stroke play competition is open to all junior aged players in Sault Ste. Marie. Start times begin at 12:00 noon and registration is $25 per player. Participants must have the ability and experience to play 18 holes of golf unassisted and on pace.
